Delaware Co HfH, Camden HfH and New Castle County HfH in Wilmington will be receiving framing packages produced by the competition. As well the event hopes to secure commitments from the teams to ‘Build-Out’ efforts scheduled for later dates. Additional funds and building materials raised by the event will help support Habitat’s work in Chester & Montgomery Counties.

To date the Builders’ Competition has participated in the construction of 15 homes with 8 of those going south to HfH Baton Rouge on the Katrina ravaged Gulf Coast.

Nine teams will be competing over the two-day period. St John’s Presbyterian Church will again serve as the charitable sponsor and enter a team of builders. Other local teams include Wayne Presbyterian Church, Lexington Homebuilders, Steve Young’s Fairfield Builders and Steve Smith Carpentry. Lancaster County teams returning are The Weaver Co., Zook Builders and John Lapp’s Backwoods Construction. New teams entering the competition this year are CVM Construction and The Haahs Co, both from Montgomery County.

Building teams will compete to see which can frame out a standard Habitat for Humanity home in the least amount of time. Come out and watch, enjoy lunch provided by Patty Mac’s Café of Berwyn and marvel at the skill and different techniques involved in the
initial phase of home building.
