2015 Builders Competition
After eight very successful years, The Builders Competition has participated in over 50 Habitat for Humanity home building efforts, producing framing packages, and providing 'Build-Out' teams, construction material, and cash contributions.
The focus of year nine is to gather a group of skilled volunteers who will work in teams to construct wall panels to help Habitat for Humanity, Philadelphia in producing complete framing packages for five homes.
On 16-18 July these framing packages are to be raised during a "Builders Challenge" event put on by the Philadelphia Habitat affiliate. Additionally, The Builders Competition is offering a $10,000 challenge grant to Habitat if they can "fast build" one of these units from first floor deck to finish paint within 30 days. All construction trades are encouraged to help.
When completed, these 1200 square foot homes will sold to participating partner families in need via Habitat's “zero interest” mortgage. These families will also complete the “sweat equity” work requirement before moving into their homes. All teams and participants will be recognized.
Support the event with a contribution to material costs. Volunteer, or just stop by and watch the action!
